Hello World!

Im bad about regular blog uppdates at the best of times, but the last while has been particularly bad even for me.
I will be honest.
2012 wasnt a great year for me.
Money problems, personal issues, health problems etc etc etc.

Unsurprisingly, training took a bit of a back seat. I didnt do any races last year. Not a single one. That sucks.
I did the boxing and it was great and kept me fit for the first few months. I had a few spurts of activity here and there throughout the year, but my fitness has suffered badly. Ive put on a lot of weight and basically have started 2013 feeling pretty shitty. So Ive set out to turn it all around.

Im going to run another marathon this year. I dont know if I will do a tri, we shall see how the year goes, but a marathon is my main focus distance for this year. Im going to run Belfast in May so the start of this year is all about getting my running base back.
The way Ive started this is by deciding to have a running streak.. Running every day for a full month. All short distances with the key beimg regularity and re-establishing the habbit. This started on the 2nd of January and so far I’ve been out every day. I’m up to day 15 now and going strong. Once a week I’ve also been doing weight training / circuits down at The Dojo. Im starting to feel pretty decent again. The weight is starting to go down a little and the 15kg I’ve put on should be long gone by marathon time.

I did plan to write a blog to outline my plans, but I got sidelined setting up this new website. Its still a work in progress but at least its somewhere to post these blog posts.

Anyway, that was just a quick update. I just in from running and circuits and am on the verge of collapse. Hopefully blog posts will be back with slightly more regularity from now on.

  1. No worries man, you’ll get back into the swing of things. I am in the same boat. I think I did one race last year and felt lousy. I like the 30 days of running idea. Maybe I will add that to my list of micro resolution. Keep up the good work.
